Full course description
An addiction overwhelms parents and limits their ability to care for their children and improve their own lives. By recognizing the impact of substance abuse and the process of treatment, you can better answer this question. The following learning outcomes are identified to improve service delivery and encourage best practices for you and the families you work with:
- Recognize the factors contributing to various mental health issues children and families experience
- Identify common risk and protective factors
- Gain knowledge of various mental health resources around Montana
- Understand your role when working with children and families who are impacted by substance abuse
- Identify prevention and treatment systems to productively engage and support those involved
- Acquire specific knowledge and skills to help empower families as they navigate these systems
